The biggest electronics show in the world just got bigger by recognizing the interests of 78 million boomers, 46 million caregivers, and millions of older consumers worldwide. Adding to the Digital Health Summit and the Silvers Summit, two established areas of the massive conference that cater to health and aging, is AgeTek, the Aging Technology Alliance, www.agetek.org and its blog, www.agetek.wordpress.com, .

AgeTek is a unique consortium of companies dedicated to promoting the awareness, benefits, and value of member products and services forour aging society. AgeTek connects the leaders in older adult technology with each other, and shapes the future of the industry and the society as it relatesto the demographics of aging worldwide.

For example, among the members of AgeTek you will find VitalLink, the touch and connect company that provides subscriptions to cloudbased technology that allows those with no computer literacy to use videocalling, e-mail, social media, Netflix and more. By connecting with family and friends, seeing videos and photos on line, playing music, brain games andfun games, an older adult can now be up to speed in computing by simply touching a screen.

Other AgeTek members, along with VitalLink, include Telekinand Grand Care, also leaders in older adult connectivity, offering robust systems to individuals, families and facilities to support older adults in easy computing, safety and lifelong vitality.

Chairman of AgeTek, Peter Radsliff, CEO of Presto, computerlesse mail, www.presto.com, says “It’s clear that technology aimed at boomers and seniors has become an important part of CES. Next year, the Silvers Summit and Digital Health segments are expanding and moving to the South Hall which has become the important venue for emerging consumer electronics.”

AgeTek members recognize that the ultimate user may not bethe purchasing consumer, as baby boom children often make the decision to buyfor mom or dad. Grandkids, too, who are often very close to their grandparents feel a real lose when they can't  communicate through the electronic media that they have grown up with, but that are alien to their grandparent’s. AgeTek members seek to bridge that gap.

In addition, companies like Clear Sounds Communications and Great Call make it possible touse the phone effectively as we age. While we admit to sight lose, few boomers will admit to hearing lose, although statistics show that half of us have some lose by age 55. AgeTek members are intergenerational and bring family connectivity to the whole clan.

And don't think that MOBILE APPS have escaped the older market. AgeTek member Dr. Marion, a jovial geriatric care specialist, with a soothing voice and outstanding instant help, has the most listened to app on older care and caregiver.

Communication and connectivity is not the only target of older adult technology. AgeTek member Dakim offers both consumer and facilities cognitive fitness programs that strengthen memory, focus, hand eye coordination and more.  Life Station, an AgeTek member, is an innovator in personal safety for those aging in place.

Watch for the membership to grow exponentially and include entertainment, travel, and lifelong learning companies and personal emergency response systems that bridge the generations and makeaging more vital, safer and just plain WIRED.
