Lemon Bread

This Lemon Bread Recipe is a great loaf to give to neighbors for Christmas or the holidays.  Enjoy it with your favorite hot drink.  Or even just with a cold glass of milk.  This recipe is sure to please.

LEMON BREAD

2 tablespoons butter, softened
2 eggs, beaten
1 tablespoon lemon peel, grated
1 ½ cups flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup milk
1 cup sugar
½ cup chopped pecans (0ptional)
Preheat oven to 325. Mix first 8 ingredients and beat until smooth. Add pecans if desired. Pour into 9 x 5 loaf pan. Bake for 1 hour. Cool 5 minutes in pan before you remove.
LEMON BREAD TOPPING

½ cup sugar
3 tablespoons lemon juice

Mix sugar and lemon juice until smooth. Pour over warm lemon bread.
