How do I Know?
Simply put, you head in that direction, and see what happens. I know that sounds simple, too simple, and of course, there is more to your question and answer than that.
What am I talking about? Making a decision which is a great process because new parts of you pop up. Unfortunately, the old part that you thought was gone, like spinning the idea in your head and not deciding, also emerges.
Did you have hamsters as pets? They spin and spin on that wheel and that image is what I use when I know it is time to jump off and take a chance. Some people like to list the pros and cons, not decide right then and go back and read that list the next day.
I spin when it comes to driving in the car for five hours. I know that voice is going to shout too loud and I will say, "Thanks for sharing; I've got this, so, go outside." I want to bring up the voice, "You can do this. No big deal. It’s a car drive. Pull over if you want to."
But no, she still pops in the room with all the whining about traffic and getting lost. Do you know that car voice?
When you are tossing ideas around and feel the urge to decide to say YES, head in that direction, whether it is a date, a trip, a business event, a weekend happening. Live with the yes and do what it takes to begin, as if you will be going.
Ask for something to reveal clarity for you, a night dream, something on TV, newspaper, over hearing a conversation, or a quick gut feeling that gives you clarity. You know what I mean.
When I was spinning about a decision, I thought I would call someone who had experience at the location I was debating to travel. I couldn't believe it, but that night, this person called me.
You have had those experiences as well. Often from myself and clients, I am reminded we over think ideas and just need to get off that spinning hamster wheel.
Heading in that direction without it "costing" you, helps in making a decision. It is like trying on shoes and walking in the store. People don't get going, simply because they don't take a step. You can turn around.
What decision do you want to make? ”I want to...............Write that down where you can read it later today. Yippee... You took a step.
Have fun,
Natalie
